The exciting idea of converting an old railway carriage and linking it to the Railway Inn, originated from a trip by Jeanne Whittome to National Railway Museum in York, and of course having been inspired by her and Paul’s wonderful travels around the world.

Jeanne found the carriage, which dates back to 1892 in rather a sorry state, in Sheringham and has, with her dedicated team, lovingly restored it back to its former glory. They have taken great pride in this unique project, and have also sourced various pieces of railway memorabilia for the Railway Inn to bring it back to its former role in the history of the Burnham Market Railway.

This delightfully refurbished railway carriage is mounted on railway track, alongside an old buffer and signal, keeping the integrity of its original appearance.

The carriage now provides a stunning luxuriously appointed stylish double bedroom and bathroom designed by Jeanne, using deliciously polished wood and sumptuously rich velvets, complete with plasma TV, and a state of the art copper bathroom with large walk-in shower and copper sink.

So step back in time. It’s the perfect retreat for stressed commuters and absolute romantics!
